I WASN'T GOING BACK TO PENCEY I got the AX!
Don't blame me for FLUNKING
I was flunking FOUR subjects
The other reason I wasnt down
It got on my nerves
It was pretty depressing
I was on my way to say good-bye
But I just sort of QUIT
I was getting the HELL out !
Literary Analysis : This poem grabs the narrators, Holden thoughts about school and why he wish not to attend. He was expelled from school but he also did not want to go anymore. Everybody who attends Pencey to him was phony and very depressing. Holden was lonely, and used drinking to excape from his bad grades and loneliness.
