The theme of my poem is depression. Holden has a depressed life it seems, he even admits to it. The poem tells about his struggles, how he feels about different situations. For example, he say's "I wish I was dead" and also he said "it made me feel not so depressed anymore" he was admitting that he felt depressed before. The events that happened to Holden made him feel this way though. He felt "ostracized" or isolated and he continually got punished in the story. As in the poem he say's"I got the ax" which meant he was kicked out of the school.
